Hi all,
As I indicated earlier, not a formal rule change here with details and all but a more general question- is anyone opposed to trying a season where the league cup takes place from Week 17 to the NFL Superbowl? This is the tentative format:
-Round 1: Week 17, all ten teams play (full rosters)
-After end of season: a dispersal draft of players remaining in the playoffs among surviving Cup squads
-Round 2: Wild card and Divisional playoff rounds (two week aggregate series)
-Round 3/Final: Conference championships and Superbowl (two week aggregate series)
Obviously, a lot of logistics to discuss if we do this. I think this Bill Simmons article from a few years ago gives some basic guidelines to this idea (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060721)- scroll towards the bottom for his playoff idea.
My take? I would never agree to extending the regular season into the NFL playoffs but the cup is such a side competition that I would like to try it. If we have enough support now, I'll draw up the details and hopefully we can find a way to make it work.
Honestly, seems like there is a tweak to the league cup every year tim and it has never disappointed so far, so im pretty much going to blindly follow any suggestion you support haha
