Section II- Rosters
A. Rostered players
A player is considered 'rostered' if they are retained as a keeper, purchased at the auction, selected in the rookie draft, or signed off the in-season waiver wire. At the end of each season, all players lose their 'rostered' status and only those players who are either keeper-eligible or 'rights only' remain in the control of their NFFL team for the offseason period.

B. Injured Reserve exception
Please note that at no point during the season will a player placed on injured reserve ('IR') count toward the roster size.
A player is eligible for the IR by meeting these two criteria:
*They are on a real-life NFLinjured reserve
*They have been on an NFFL roster for at least one week
NFFL teams may place players on IR in one of two ways. First, a team may utilize the IR feature supported by the host website.
Second, a player may be released directly into the waiver wire along with an announcement from the owner that the player is being placed on IR. This may be done by owners who wish to fill the roster spot prior to the player's formal designation by his NFL team. However, if the owner is mistaken and the player returns to an active game day roster during that same NFL season, the player is considered a free-agent and the owner loses his rights to that player for the upcoming season.
C. NFFL Roster Requirements
Below are the NFFL roster requirements. Please note that, depending on the time of the season, the requirements change slightly.
Keeper finalization date until start of the auction...18 player maximum.
-> No NFFL team is allowed to enter the auction with more than 18 keeper players. This limit does not include players who are 'rights only'.
At the conclusion of the auction...18 player minimum AND 18 player maximum.
-> Keepers placed on IR count toward the auction salary but do not count toward the roster limit.
At the conclusion of the rookie draft...25 player minimum.
-> Teams with fewer than seven rookie draft choices will be awarded supplemental draft choices until they reach the roster minimum.
At the start of the first waiver period until the end of the season...25 player maximum.
-> Once the season concludes, roster totals are not considered until next season's keeper finalization date.
Please note that the only period of time during which an NFFL team may carry over 25 players is from the end of the rookie draft until Labor Day. On Labor Day, the league waiver wire opens and all teams must reduce their rosters to meet the 25 player maximum (IR players excepted).
